This month, most of my favorites are haircare. I went on a shopping spree at Ulta and had some great products from one of my Birchboxes.
So first lets talk about these hair products that have helped my hair game! There are 3 that I have used all together and also one of them I’ve used individually.
I love Living proof products. If you remember on one of my previous posts I talked about Living proof’s dry shampoo! Well this new product I tried is Perfect Hair Day- In-Shower styler. I figured I’d use this product when trying to wear my hair in it’s natural crazy wavy self. So after washing your hair you put this in and let it sit for a minute and then lightly rinse. You don’t want to completely rinse it all out. Then I combed my hair in the shower with a wide toothed comb. When drying it, I flipped my head over and kinda did a scrunching motion to wring out the water. Then, after letting it be up in my towel for a little bit I flipped my head over again and gave it one more scrunch and then parted it down the middle and did 2 VERY LOOSE buns on the top of my head. Securing it with a claw clip(I used the ones that came with some rollers I had). I took the clips out before going to bed but tried to leave the bun as much as possible. When I awoke in the morning I had some, non frizzy, super soft wavy hair. Normally when trying to do this I end up with a hot frizzy mess but this product helped so much!
Then when i got ready to style it I just sprayed some of the Oribe Apres Beach-Wave and shine spray throughout the hair and then used another of my favorites (Joico Hair Shake) from a previous post to give more texture to my roots and throughout my hair. So below is how it turned out.
Now this new Kenra product is a favorite but still doesn’t completely do the same thing as my Hair shake! So this is Kenra High Grip spray in hold of 20. (Hey it’s on sale at Ulta right now!) Now I absolutely LOVE Kenra’s hairspray and it’s by far my favorite! Can’t live without it! This grip spray is supposed to have some light hold but also give some texture. I’d say that is truly what it does BUT I have noticed that the next day my hair feels kinda sticky. I don’t have that problem with the Hair shake. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It does what it says it’s supposed to but if you aren’t one that likes to wash their hair everyday you may not love it.
Now on to some skincare. I have some oily skin in my T-zone, especially during the summer ….well most of the time since I live in Texas and we don’t get much cool weather. So I was introduced to this gem recently and have loved it! Supposedly it’s been around for quite some time and some may say it smells like your grandma but I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s Coty Airspun Translucent setting powder. This works amazing over my Maskcara Beauty makeup. Because it’s translucent it doesn’t mess up my highlight and contour. I’ve also been using this powder to bake. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you should check out my live video on Facebook titled “How to HAC for oily skin”.
You know how sometimes at night you really don’t feel like washing your face. You are just tired and the thought of getting your face all wet doesn’t sound great at all. I found this cleanser water that I really have been liking. It’s Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water and it’s pretty much a cleanser and makeup remover together. I just put some on a round cotton pad and let it do it’s magic. It’s especially good at taking off my waterproof mascara.
Hope this helps someone in their hair or skin game!
